Born out of a mutual love of
sound system culture, The Drop are a 9-piece band who've grown out of their
small-town roots to speak to the trudging nation.
Fronted by Dandelion, The Drop
take a unique approach to Reggae, breaking clear of cultural limitations. In
2009 the band formed and have since moved to quickly establish themselves as
one of Britain's premiere reggae troubadours; marrying jump up grooves, down &
dirty bass, epic walls of sound and clever lyricism.
The Drop’s reputed electric and
energetic live shows, have seen them grace every festival worth gracing,
cementing their place in the British Reggae movement. They have already been
championed by Reggae ambassador David Rodigan MBE on his radio shows, and have
supported some of the biggest names in the industry; such as Toots and the
Maytals, Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry and Don Letts to name a few. They now look forward
to the release of their debut LP in 2014.
Stoking the fires of free
thought, reggae has long been the spark to ignite any potential brooding youth
movement. From The Clash to the recent explosion of dub-step, they all have
their place and are each as culturally significant and quintessentially British
as the last. The Drop are firmly placed in this category, a band with a
community for the whole nation.
